Slower Deeper Wiser (SDW) is committed to respecting people’s right to privacy. We are committed to ensuring that we uphold the trust people place in us when they provide their information to us. SDW seeks to comply with the Australian Privacy Principles set out in the Privacy Act 1988 (as amended from time to time) at all times.

How do we collect and store your information?

We usually collect personal information (including sensitive information) from you when you contact SDW to enquire about a service SDW may provide to you, when you engage SDW to provide a service to you and during any meeting that is held with someone from SDW.

 

Personal information may include your name, contact details, your employer or organisations name and contact details and contact details for your next of kin.

 

Sensitive information may include information about your health, religious beliefs, and any other sensitive information that you may declare during client sessions.

 

We sometimes collect information from a publicly available source to enable us to better understand your ministry context. For example, a Church or ministry website or publicly available social media accounts.

 

We also collect personal information through our websites and social networking services such as Facebook. We use this information to improve our website and receive feedback from the SDW community.

 

SDW information technology security practices

All personal information collected, including your Client Contact information sheet and notes for sessions, are held initially on a local hard drive and then transferred to the pcloud (www.pcloud.com), a cloud-based digital storage company, on servers located in Europe. SDW uses Zoom for on-line sessions which collects your name and email address. You can view their privacy policy here.

 

SDW uses Calendly as our on-line calendar booking system which collects your name, email address and any notes you make on the form. You can view their privacy policy here.

 

SDW uses Jotform to collect surveys on your SDW experience, the only information that is collected is your email and your response. You can view their privacy policy here.

 

How do we protect your information?

We protect your personal details stored on local hard-drives and cloud-based technology through encryption, firewalls, secure buildings and computer security systems. We will take all reasonable steps to ensure the personal information we hold about you is relevant, not excessive, accurate, complete and up-to-date.  You can always correct or update your contact details, to do so please contact SDW and we will gladly do that for you.

Accessing and correcting your personal information

If you ask, in most cases we must give you access to the personal information that we hold about you, and take reasonable steps to correct it if we consider it is incorrect. We will try to make the process as simple as possible.

 

You can also choose which IT platforms you wish to use with SDW. Please know you can request a change at any time.

 

Data Breaches

An eligible data breach is when there is unauthorised access to or unauthorised disclosure of personal information, or a loss of personal information, when it is likely to result in serious harm to individuals, or SDW hasn’t been able to prevent the likely risk of serious harm with remedial action.

 

If there a breach of our information systems and data collection, we will notify affected individuals and we may notify the Office of Australian Information Commissioner if required.

 

How to make a complaint

We are committed to dealing quickly and appropriately with any complaint you make about your privacy. If you are concerned that this privacy policy may have been breached or that your privacy may have been compromised please contact us in writing immediately , setting out your concerns. Please include a daytime telephone number where we can contact you. We will get back to you within five working days.

Unresolved complaints

If you are not satisfied with our handling of your complaint you can refer it to the Australian Federal Privacy Commissioner.
